Everyone who takes part will be entered in a prize draw to win tickets to the Schlossgartenfest or one of 36 FAU gift sets.

The latest round of the FAU student survey (FAU-St) is starting, this year in the summer semester for a change. From 6 May until 23 June, students, apart from those in the School of Business, Economics, and Society which conducts its own survey, will have the chance to evaluate their study conditions. The survey is available in German and English. As well as the usual questions concerning the general level of satisfaction with studies, this year focuses particularly on digitalisation and studying successfully. Everyone who participates will be entered in a prize draw for a total of 36 gift sets from the FAU shop, as well as three sets of two tickets to the Schlossgartenfest.

FAU-St is carried out by the Office of Teaching Quality Assurance. However, this year different groups at FAU have supplied the questions. The faculties provided questions on topics which are of particular interest for them, for example internationalisation at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology or Student Service Centres at the Faculty of Sciences. A set of questions on digitalisation was developed in conjunction with the Institute for Learning Innovation at FAU. Representatives from the international offices of certain faculties were consulted for questions aimed specifically at international students.

Using the restaurants as a learning space?

We also consulted students when drawing up the student survey for 2019. The Student Council is interested, for example, in how often students use the semester ticket, whether students would use the restaurants as a learning space and what they would think about a culture ticket.

In addition to the questions on satisfaction with the university, study conditions and content of their degree programmes, students, like in previous years, are able to give their feedback on topics such as infrastructure, preparation for starting a career or starting university.

The results of the survey will be used at all levels of the University to reflect on what is on offer and how it can be improved. The Executive Board, the Committees for Teaching and Studying, the degree programme coordinators, the University Administration, the Centre for Teacher Education and the Innovation in Learning Institute will all receive analyses tailored to meet their needs. Distributing the results of FAU-St to such a wide audience and using them across several different departments means that student feedback can be taken into account in crucial processes throughout the university.

Join in and win

As a thank you for taking part in the FAU survey, this year we are giving away three sets of two tickets for the Schlossgartenfest 2019 as well as 36 FAU gift sets with items from the FAU shop in a prize draw. ‘We are well aware that it takes time to participate in the FAU student survey,’ says Prof. Dr. Bärbel Kopp, Vice President Education. ‘However, it does give students the opportunity to assess the student experience at FAU. This feedback helps us to keep improving the quality of teaching and studying. We really appreciate every student who makes the effort to complete the survey, and offer the prize draw as a token of our appreciation.’

We are giving away the following gift sets: 10 x ‘Gourmet’: beer tankard and wooden bread board;10 x ‘Study aids’: notebook, pen and retro shoulder bag;10 x ‘Motivation boost’: sport bag and thermos cup; 6 x ‘anniversary bag’: shoulder bag (tarpaulin with FAU logo) and FAU snow globe, as well as three sets of two tickets to the Schlossgartenfest.
