FAU ranked highly for chemistry and for electrical engineering and information engineering

FAU has performed excellently again in the Centre for Higher Education’s (CHE) university ranking, and is ranked among the best for chemistry and for electrical engineering and information engineering. The subjects evaluated in this year’s CHE ranking were English/North American studies, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering and information engineering, education science, German language and literature, mechanical engineering, psychology, materials science, and Romance studies.

FAU received top marks in three categories for chemistry and for electrical engineering and information engineering. Chemistry was praised for overall study conditions, teaching of subject knowledge and the number of students completing their degree programme within a reasonable amount of time. Electrical engineering and information engineering also excelled in the latter category, as well as in relevance to professional practice and the amount of research funding.

The University was also rated highly in the other subjects, with top marks for teaching of subject knowledge in biology and for research funding in materials science. FAU was particularly successful in terms of the number of students completing their degree programme within a reasonable amount of time, receiving the best possible evaluation in this category for all of the subjects assessed.

The CHE ranking

The CHE collects data for its university ranking once a year. One third of the subjects are re-evaluated each time. Information from more than 300 universities and institutes of higher education in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands is incorporated into the ranking. In addition to data on studying, teaching, equipment and research, the ranking also includes assessments by students regarding the course situation as well as the reputation of the individual schools among the professors of the subjects.
