The Executive Board and Students' Representatives call on students to vote in the University election.

The University election is the perfect opportunity to have your say in the way the University should be run. In order to encourage as many students as possible to vote, the polling stations will be open on two days: Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June, from 9am to 3pm.

Your vote counts!

This year, representatives of the various stakeholder groups (professors, research staff, administrative staff) are to be elected to the Senate, the Faculty Councils of the five faculties and to the Appointments Council of the School of Theology. Students are also able to vote on who is to represent them in the respective Student Committees and in the Student Council.

Who can be elected?

The groups of candidates (Wahlvorschläge) for the University election have already been announced and are listed, for example, on the Elections Office website.

Who can vote?

In order to vote, you have to be entered in the electoral register which was closed on 28 May 2019. All members of the University who were registered by this date are entitled to vote. Employees of FAU have already received their polling card in writing. Students can access their polling card via the ‘mein campus’ portal.

Your polling card states which polling station you should go to. You don’t necessarily need your polling card to vote in person at a polling station, but you do have to show some photo ID (for example ID card or driving licence). However, it makes our work at the polling station easier and helps the elections run more smoothly if you do bring your polling card.

Applying for a postal vote

You can also vote by post. Please apply for your postal vote documents by 4pm on 11 June 2019. The FAU Elections Office will then send you your documents by post. If you collect your postal vote documents in person from the Elections Office, you can apply by 4pm on 18 June 2019. It is important that we receive your postal vote in the Elections Office at the latest by 3pm on the last day of the elections, 26 June 2019. Otherwise your vote cannot be counted.

All the information about the University election and the work of the committees which are to be elected is available at wahlen.fau.de and on the Student Representatives’ website.
