FAU secures its position as one of the top 200 in the world

Excellent results in THE ranking

In the annual Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the FAU was again listed among the top 200 universities for 2020. Almost 1,400 institutes of higher education worldwide were assessed, with FAU finishing 183rd, securing its very good ranking of the year before (175th of 1200 participants). The University performed well in all areas of the ranking, but did particularly well in the area of research, where it was ranked at place 150. In the area of industry income, FAU rose seven places to finish 60th.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings has been published annually since 2004.  It is compiled in collaboration with Elsevier and counts as one of the most influential international university rankings beside the QS World University Ranking and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). In the current edition, 1396 top universities were evaluated based on 13 indicators relevant to teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.
