There are lots of new things waiting for you as a first-year student at FAU. To help you find your feet, we’ve compiled some tips and information about the most important points of contact.

Studying abroad is one of the most exciting and informative things you can do as a student. But with being abroad, many questions come hand in hand. At FAU, we want you to know where you can ask questions and get support. Our international student Ani has some advice to make your start at FAU easier.

After time spent on trains and planes and cars you’ve made it – welcome to Germany! Many things will be different, but there’s no need to worry. Our experienced international students are here to give advice. With their help, you’ll find it easy to adapt.

Leaving school and starting university can be quite a shock, and sometimes you would like nothing better than to just pull the covers over your head and hide. Don’t worry! If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Advice and Career Service straightaway. The team is always happy to help.

If you sort out your finances early on, you’ll free yourself up to have fun while you study. FAU’s Student Advice and Career Service is an important port of call for any questions relating to student finance. We are happy to give you information on how to apply for scholarships and study grants.

Would you like to put what you’ve learned in lectures into use in a workshop or laboratory and expand on your ideas? You can do this and more in the TechFak-EcoCar Team. Their current mission is to take over the skies with an electric aircraft.

Do you have music in your veins? FAU offers plenty of opportunities for the musically inclined. You could, for example, join the University orchestra in Erlangen – like Sophia.

Studying is just dull theory? Think again! At FAU, students carry out independent research into synthetic biology – and take part in an international competition.

Have you ever thought about setting up your own company while you are still a student? It’s not such a bad idea, as students at FAU are in the fortunate position of having the Digital Tech Academy (DTA), the start-up consulting service and the digital start-up centre ZOLLHOF at their disposal. Anatoli took the bull by the horns.
