In the following, you will find information on various scholarship opportunities for exchange students at FAU.
Scholarships provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The DAAD offers a wide range of scholarships for various purposes. Please consult the DAAD website for further information.
Scholarships for FAU students visiting partner universities
FAU is currently offering scholarships of Euro 300-500 per month for the following universities:

Scholarships for Erasmus students from partner countries
Information for Erasmus students from programme countries: You will receive Erasmus funding from your home university. Please ask them about funding conditions.
FAU has obtained third party funding through the Erasmus+ partner countries programme and has entered into Erasmus co-operation projects with the following countries:

Incoming students who have been officially nominated by the partner university will receive a one-off bursary to cover travel costs. The size of the bursary will be determined by the actual distance between the university locations.
- 100 – 499 km: Euro 180
- 500 – 1,999 km: Euro 275
- 2,000 – 2,999 km: Euro 360
- 3,000 – 3,999 km: Euro 530
- 4,000 – 7,999 km: Euro 820
- 8,000 km and more: Euro 1,100
Please use the online tool provided by the EU to calculate the distance.
Students will also receive a monthly scholarship of Euro 800 or, for incomplete months, a pro rata amount of Euro 26.66 per day.
Entitlement to payment will commence directly on arrival, whereby the travel bursary and first monthly scholarship will initially be paid in cash at the university cash office. Subsequent instalments will be paid by bank transfer each month once a bank account has been opened in Germany.

Scholarships for exchange students from Latin America
The Bavarian University Centre for Latin America (BAYLAT) offers travel scholarships every 2 years.
Scholarships for students from Central and Eastern Europe.
The Bavarian University Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (BAYHOST) offers
- An annual scholarship programme of the State of Bavaria for Graduates
- Scholarships of the State of Bavaria for German language summer courses in Bavaria
- Mobility allowances for research trips by students and young researchers
GFPS-Polska – Association for Science and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe, with its registered office in Krakow, offers scholarships to Polish students studying in Germany.
GFPS-CZ – Organisation for Student and Cultural Exchanges in Central and Eastern Europe, with its registered office in Ústí and Labem, offers scholarships for degree courses and internships in Germany.
Scholarships of the Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD)
Scholarship programme 1 (country programme) offers funding for postgraduate courses and research stays by postgraduates. Scholarship programme 2 supports foreign students from developing countries who are already studying in Germany. The Catholic university communities have the right to nominate potential recipients. The Eastern Europe programme – as an invitation programme managed in collaboration with partner committees – mainly provides funds for periods spent studying and undertaking research in Germany. Applications are generally expected from home countries and are mediated through the partner committees.
Scholarships of the Lutheran World Foundation
Scholarships for students of Protestant Theology or Orthodox Theology are offered around the world through the national churches.
