National Research Training Group at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Universities of Potsdam and Tübingen. Academic mentoring and support of 12 doctoral candidates by six dementia experts from medicine-related subjects and one postdoctoral candidate. The main aim of the dementia research platform (OptiDem) is to create systematic reviews in the three areas of primary prevention, non-medicinal treatment methods and supply shortfalls/strategies for improvement/ethics of supply that have thus far been lacking and publish them in internationally renowned specialised journals. The structured “OptiDem” doctoral programme consists of both compulsory and optional elements. This structure should support and develop the various key competencies of the doctoral candidates. The 3-year funding for the programme is provided by the Karl and Veronika Carstens Foundation.
