The winners of the first FAU photo contest have been awarded prizes
The judges have made their decision and have chosen the winning photos of the first photo contest at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). In an award ceremony at the cafeteria on FAU’s Südgelände (southern campus) the 20 winners received vouchers for the cafeterias and the FAU Shop for their entries around the theme ‘Was bedeutet F-A-U für dich?’ (what does F-A-U mean to you?)
The winner was Thomas Kleinert’s photo, a stunning snapshot of the Irrawaddy River in Burma with the title ‘Abenteuer – Auf dem Weg ins Ungewisse’ (adventure– journey into the unknown). ‘I had the pleasure of spending my last winter semester abroad in Bangkok and South-East Asia. I saw many exciting and breathtaking places and landscapes and met some very interesting people,’ says the happy winner. The second place was Nico Moroff’s photo montage called ‘Die FAU sagt Hallo!’ (FAU says hello). Third place went to Carolin Kirschner’s photo with the title ‘Erlangen – Zahnmedizin studieren mit Aussicht.“’ (Erlangen – studying dentistry with a view)
Celina Henning, one of the judges and a member of staff of the University’s marketing department, was particularly surprised at how diverse the entries were. ‘The students had very creative ideas when interpreting the theme. The quality of the photos was also very impressive,’ she says.
