Internships and placements abroad
Gain work experience, immerse yourself in other cultures
Doing an internship or placement abroad lets you apply your specialist knowledge. You get to know a profession and can gain valuable work experience. At the same time, you have the opportunity to experience a new working culture and learn a foreign language.
One way to spend time abroad is to do an internship at a company. Medical students can spend their practical year (PJ) or do their clinical practice abroad. Working as an assistant teacher abroad offers exciting opportunities for those studying for a teaching degree. Another option for spending time abroad is working on a research project which counts towards your final thesis.
In order to help you look for a suitable position, we have gathered some tips for looking for an internship and selected internship vacancies on our website. As FAU is an EELISA partner university, you can also apply for current projects at the relevant partner universities. FAU offers financial support for an internship or traineeship abroad, e.g. via the Erasmus+ traineeship program. Take the time to browse through some of the reports from FAU students who have successfully completed an internship or placement abroad, either in Europe or elsewhere in the world.
