Our courses for asylum seekers

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) offers refugees and asylum seekers in Erlangen, Fürth and Nuremberg who would like to study at FAU a range of opportunities and advice to prepare them to study later on.

Offer:

Orientation course: information on access to university study for refugees and asylum seekers (German and English)

Requirements:

  • German language proficiency at level B1 is required for the language course for refugees and asylum seekers preparing to study; German language proficiency at level B2 if required if wishing to study a degree programme taught in German
  • English language proficiency at level B2 is required if wishing to study a Master’s degree programme taught in English
  • Applicants must meet formal requirements for university study (university entrance qualification/Abitur, several semesters completed at a university in their home country)
  • Applicants must have asylum seeker or refugee status

Offer:

German language course for refugees and asylum seekers preparing to study, subject to a fee of 650 euros

Requirements:

  • Applicants must meet formal requirements for university study (university entrance qualification/Abitur, several semesters completed at a university in their home country)
  • Applicants must have submitted an application for admission to the FAU Admissions Office
  • German language proficiency: level B1

Offer:

Participation in selected lectures for various degree programmes that do not have admission restrictions

Requirements:

  • Applicants must meet formal requirements for university study (university entrance qualification/Abitur, several semesters completed at a university in their home country)
  • Good basic knowledge of German and English (B1)
  • An individual consultation session with the IBZ advisors is required beforehand
