Re-registration, semester contribution and leave of absence
All students must re-register for the next semester in order to be able to continue studying at FAU. This is done by paying the semester contribution. The contribution must be paid by bank transfer within the deadlines for re-registration at the University, as otherwise you risk being de-registered.
The semester contribution (Student Services contribution) is 82 euros.
Deadlines for re-registration/bank transfer:
| Semester | Re-registration deadline |
|---|---|
| Summer semester 2026 | February 2 to 9, 2026 |
| Winter semester 2026/27 | July 1 to 8 2026 |
| Summer semester 2027 | Provisionally the first week in February |
What are the bank details for transferring the semester fee?
In January and June, all students receive an email from the Student Records Office to their FAU email address with information on the re-registration process. The semester contribution must be transferred to the University account given in the email, listing your student registration number (without spaces), surname and given name. If this information is incomplete, the payment for your semester contribution cannot be processed and you will not be re-registered.
Further information on the student contribution and a PDF of a bank transfer form are available in campo, under “Student service” (under “Documents”).

Even after applying for leave of absence, you are still required to transfer the semester contribution by the stated deadline for re-registration. Further information about leave of absence can be found on our website.
