Long Night of Sciences 2015

A journey through the world of science

The seventh Long Night of Sciences was held in Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen on 24 October 2015. Many departments and institutes at FAU presented fascinating current topics from the world of science, research and technology. During the afternoon the children’s programme allowed budding scientists to learn about research.

The evening’s main event in the Audimax in Erlangen focused on the topic of space and gravity, and included a visit from a star guest, ESA astronaut Dr. Alexander Gerst, who gave a presentation about his time in space. The geophysicist and volcanologist spent six months on an ISS expedition as a flight engineer in 2014. The entertaining tweets and Facebook posts that he sent during the expedition earned him a nomination for the Grimme Online Award in 2015.
