Research prizes at FAU

Research prizes are more than just a form of recognition – they strengthen a university’s reputation, emphasise its academic excellence and provide institutes and research projects with considerable amounts of funding.

In recent years, more than 20 members of FAU have received a variety of research prizes. Five of them were awarded the German Research Foundation’s Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, the most important research prize in Germany, and three received the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, which comes with the most funding of any research prize in Germany.
