Full Professor of English Literature (salary group W3)

Full Professor of English Literature
(salary group W3)
at the Institute of English and American Studies in the Department of English and Romance studies. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. The professor is expected to represent the field in research and teaching in its full breadth and historical depth from the early modern period to the present, including literary theory (especially aesthetics and poetics). A historical focus in pre-1800 and/or early modern literature is desirable, as is an interest in literary practice or applied literary studies. Success in attracting external funding and a proven research profile evidenced by internationally visible publications and a scholarly network are expected. Experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research is desirable. The position requires involvement in all teacher training programs (Bavarian state examination) and teaching in the programs “BA English and American Studies,” “MA English Studies,” “MA Literary Studies Intermedial and Intercultural,” and the elite program “MA Ethics of Textual Cultures.”
Successful candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. They should have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and relevant teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are preferred. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. These qualifications may also have been achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as Assistant Professor).

at the Department of Psychology. This is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by September 1, 2024 at the earliest.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. Applicants are expected to have a relevant, internationally visible research profile in the areas of developmental psychology and educational psychology. In teaching, the professor should represent both developmental psychology and educational psychology within the scope of the psychology degree programs and psychology within teacher training at FAU. The successful candidate will also participate in the teaching of developmental psychopathology in the Master’s program in Psychology specialization clinical psychology and psychotherapy. The applicant should also demonstrate outstanding, internationally visible publications, competitive third-party funding and an international network and will be expected to link their research with the research priorities of FAU and the faculty and be willing to cooperate in shaping the profile of the department. Experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research is also desirable.

tenure-track position as Associate Professor of Clinical Systems Immunology

at the Department of Medicine 3 – Rheumatology and Immunology. The position is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a full professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. The purpose of the professorship is to investigate the heterogeneity of immune cell networks in diseases in order to better understand differences in the individual clinical progression of patients. Molecular-biological and bioinformatic methods will be applied in a clinical context. Participation in the research networks of the Faculty of Medicine (Collaborative Research Centers, Research Training Groups, Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research) is expected as well as participation in teaching students. The Faculty of Medicine offers degree programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management, Midwifery Science, Logopedics and the interfaculty programs in Medical Engineering and Integrated Immunology.

Applicants should be conceptually and substantively involved in cultural/human geography and socio-environmental research and have made innovative contributions to research. Empirical research in the Global South is desirable, as well as links to research priorities at FAU and the Institute of Geography, in particular to sustainability, urban and digitalization research. A proven research profile demonstrated by internationally visible publications and a broad scientific network are expected. In teaching, participation in geography degree programs is required (teaching degree programs, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in cultural geography).

We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research and teaching. Applicants must have an outstanding record in research at the interface between software engineering and data management as well as the potential to further develop and merge both these areas of research, also in cooperation with other units of the University. We expect outstanding research in the following areas, for example: data-driven software engineering; design of efficient systems that support data engineering (e.g. databases for new hardware and in the cloud); software engineering methods for data management systems; data engineering pipelines (e.g. schema matching, data integration, data cleaning, and information extraction); data engineering for machine learning and artificial intelligence; testing of data-intensive software systems; variant-rich database systems. Teaching is expected to complement the existing range of courses in the fields of software engineering and data management, both for computer science and for related degree programs (such as data science and information systems).
