Innovation is our passion. Our drive and enthusiasm for new ideas has brought us to where we are today, a clear leader in the field, ranked number 1 in Germany and number 2 in Europe for innovation in the Reuters Top 100, 2019.

  • Prof. Dr. Maria Rentetzi has been holding the new "Chair of Science, Technology and Gender Studies" at FAU since 2021. For her research, the physicist and historian focuses on the intersection of science and technology, the history of science, the history of diplomacy, political science and international relations.

  • This year, the Bavarian Digital Award is focusing on ‘digital participation’, and FAU entrepreneur Sagithjan Surendra has been nominated for his NGO Aelius Förderwerk, which provides digital assistance to disadvantaged young people.

  • A start-up trio at FAU have developed a new technology which can produce passive high-frequency components directly from computer models. Now the researchers will receive funding of 1.1 million euros from the EXIST programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to develop the technology into a market-ready product.

  • The DFG has awarded young researcher Dr. Silvia Budday from the Chair of Applied Mechanics at FAU the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize – the most prestigious research award for early career researchers in Germany.

  • About 20 month ago, San José State University and FAU embarked on an entrepreneurial collaboration leveraging the immense research capabilities of FAU and SJSU's powerful and robust Silicon Valley ecosystem. What began as a robust exchange of knowledge and ideas has grown into much more – the commercialization of intellectual property, the formation and incubation of new companies and the book "One And One Equals Eleven".
