FAU integrates its top research in electrical engineering into the training of teaching staff

How can teaching staff integrate current topics like energy transition or electric mobility into their class? Our state of research is constantly changing, making it challenging for curricula and teachers to stay up-to-date. Having become aware of this issue, the department Electrical Engineering at FAU has brought to life a special training for teaching staff.

“It is our responsibility to make our research and knowledge available so that teachers can benefit from it,” explains Dr. Markus Jonscher, Head of the department. “As a result, students will benefit, too: They are not only being taught the status quo of a certain subject area but are also learning the direction in which research is going and how that may influence the development of the respective special field.”

The advanced training programs “Alles Quanten oder was?” (“All about quanta”) and “Elektromobilität von morgen” (“The electric mobility of tomorrow”) are the first two with more to come in the future. On October 30th, 2023, there will be an encore presentation of the quantum training – in parallel with the introductory “Schnupper-Uni” for pupils who want to learn about studying at the department. Possible topics for trainings in 2024 could be hydrogen, robotics, IT or autonomous technologies.
