29 euro ticket for winter semester available in mid September
Available from September 11, 2023 via the VAG subscription portal (VAG Abo-Portal)
No paperwork necessary: The discounted “Deutschlandticket” for students will be available as of September 11 via the VAG subscription portal (VAG Abo-Portal). The ticket cannot be purchased before this date and forms confirming eligibility are not required.
The new “Bildungsticket” for 29 euros is replacing the semester ticket. This means the contribution for Student Services will no longer include a contribution towards public transport. If you would like to use public transport, you can purchase the 29 euro ticket yourself via the VAG subscription portal. The portal will be linked to FAU’s Identity Management system (IdM), which means that eligibility can be verified online. The ticket is valid from October 1, 2023 across Germany in local public transport (ÖPNV) as well as for regional public transport (S-Bahn, Regionalbahn). The ticket also includes 600 free minutes of bicycle hire each month with the “VAG Rad” scheme.
