Taking partners’ careers into consideration constitutes an important factor in recruiting qualified researchers. Bearing this in mind, we discuss matters of relevance for dual career couples during appointment negotiations and the Chancellor is available for discussing dual career issues. We are well aware that the decision to take up a position often depends on the career opportunities available to the new professor’s partner in the region.
Thanks to our membership in the regional Dual Career Network (DCNN) that connects numerous academic institutions and companies throughout Northern Bavaria, we can significantly increase the chances of successfully finding a job. Services
FAU supports the partners of newly appointed professors in continuing their career in the region. Thanks to financial support from the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts through its program aimed at expanding welcome services for international researchers as part of the internationalization program for Bavarian universities, the service is now also available to international postdoctoral researchers.
To help your new career get off to as smooth a start as possible, the Dual Career Service offers support with
- Looking for a new job, for instance by making contact to potential employers in academia, at schools or in industry.
- Answering any questions you may have on career planning
- Drawing up and editing application documents
- Looking for funding programs and scholarships
- Answering questions on continued education, training courses and language courses
- Helping you and your partner integrate into your new surroundings and create a personal network
We are happy to support your applications with a personal letter and establish contact with the right points of contact. We can provide extensive and detailed support, but we cannot guarantee a job.
