IdM stands for Identity Management and is the gateway to IT services at FAU. IdM is used by all members of FAU.
What do I have to do?
As soon as you have enrolled and enrollment is completed, you receive an e-mail with information on how to activate our IT services. You can also access this information in the campo online portal (Start page > My studies > Student service > Documents > Study documents> User information letter).
Please activate your ID using the information in the letter in the Identity Management portal (IdM portal). In the next step, please activate your personal email address and your FAU mailbox in the IdM portal under Requests/Tasks.
You must read your emails from the University regularly. They give you important information about examination dates, re-registration dates or important information from the Executive Board. You can also set up automatic forwarding to your private email address.

Starting November 15, 2026, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will become mandatory for FAU students when logging in to FAU IT services (e.g., IdM, campo, StudOn). You can set up MFA before that date. For more information and setup instructions, please visit the Regionales Rechenzentrum Erlangen (RRZE) website.
