For each semester, a course catalog is provided in campo, displaying all exams, courses, and modules offered in the current semester.
For most degree programs, the switch to the following semester takes place on the Monday after the end of the lecture period.
Where can I find the course catalog?
You can view the courses offered by FAU in the course catalog. This function can be accessed whether or not you are signed in to the campo portal.

To view the course catalog, open the main menu and select the following submenus:
- “Studies offered”
- “Show university course catalog”
Now proceed as follows:
In the default view you can see the latest course catalog; if you would like to see a previous course catalog, you can access it by selecting the appropriate semester.
Please read the instructions regarding the course catalog carefully.

The tree structure is located under the notes. You can expand and collapse the various levels using the blue arrow icons. The icon with the three dots linked with two lines stands for a permalink. Clicking on this allows you to access a link that you can use, for instance, on the website for the chair or institute.

Under the tree structure is the key explaining the meaning of the various icons. To expand the key, click on the blue arrow.
The following elements are used in the course catalog at FAU:

- Degree program and examination regulations (closed book icon)
Please note that each version of the degree program and examination regulations is displayed as a separate degree program. - Ledger (orange label)
One ledger or account can comprise various elements that are on the same level (e.g. all the elements of the GOP). - Module (green jigsaw puzzle piece)
A module is a chronologically connected and self-contained teaching and learning unit, the content of which can be tested in an examination. ECTS credits are only awarded for modules. - Lecture or seminar (open book)
This section lists all courses or events that are not graded (e.g. lecture, laboratory course, tutorial, excursion), but not special courses or events. - Examination (yellow star with a red band)
As well as traditional examinations, this also includes all other assessments (e.g. written assignments, laboratory courses with compulsory attendance, graded exercises).
Titles can be included to make the information clearer. In some degree programs, further information is included under the titles.
Detailed views in course catalog
To view detailed information on a course, examination, or module, click on the title of the element.
Opening the detailed view for a module allows you to view the information about this module. This information includes the module description, the relevant courses and examinations, information on achievements, and information on the degree programs to which the module is assigned.

The ECTS credits allocated to the module are stated in the tab “Information about activity and allocation”.
The tab “Course catalog” is not used at FAU and is therefore of no interest for you.
By default, the basic data of a course is displayed in the “dates” tab when you open a course. Depending on the information that is saved, it shows the title, brief description, the organizational unit offering the course, type of course, frequency of the course, semester hours and comments.

The ECTS credits that are shown only give an indication of weighting. At FAU, ECTS credits are only awarded for modules that have been passed.
Students can register for the course on StudOn. The link for doing so is available on the right hand side.
In the lower part of the “Events” tab, you can find details of the schedule for the course in a table, split into parallel courses if applicable. Here you can find information on the frequency, day of the week, time, start and finish date, lecturer and room where the course will be held.

You can export data for iCalender (ics) for each parallel group (1). If you see the warning icon (2), changes have been made to a least one of the individual dates. You can check by clicking on the warning icon or on “Show individual dates” (3). Here you can then see, for example, whether an individual date has been canceled or whether an alternative date or room has been arranged.
If necessary, the chairs can include information for students under the tab “Contents”.
The tab “Course catalog” shows where the course is included in the course catalog.
The tab “Modules and degree programs” gives a list of all modules and degree programs to which the course is assigned.

Did you not find something?
The course catalog only shows elements that have been approved. You cannot see elements that are currently being edited. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please contact the person responsible.
Show current courses
Using this function allows you to view courses held on any specific day, now or in the future. Go to the main menu and select “Studies offered” and “Show current courses”.
This view also shows special courses/events.
To view all courses offered on any specific date, select the date and click “Search”.

You can view detailed information on the course by clicking on the magnifying glass icon or on the name of the course.
Search for a course
If you would like to search for a specific course without clicking through the tree structure in the course catalog, you can go to the main menu and follow “Studies offered” and “Search for courses”.
A search screen opens in which you can, for instance, enter parts of the name of the course, the lecturer, or other details.

We recommend wording the search query as accurately as possible, as you have the choice of several thousand courses. Click on “Help with searching” if you require further explanations of the search filters.
If your search pulled up one result, you will be taken directly to the detailed view of that course.
If several results match your search criteria, you will receive a results list from which you can select the course you are looking for.
FAQs
In consultation with the Deans of Studies and quality management, the course catalog for the following semester is always released on Monday in the week following the end of the lecture period in the current semester.
One exception is the Institute of Geography with the degree programs it offers at the Faculty of Sciences. Due to an early registration process, its teaching units are already published at the beginning of June for the winter semester and the beginning of December for the summer semester.
Intermediate levels have been created in the course catalog to structure data or to perform calculations. If desired, this area can be hidden using the visibility options.
