In the case of illness, you are generally free to choose your doctor, but not all treatments are free of charge. It is recommended to ask your doctor about possible costs before starting treatment. If you are unable to take out German health insurance, you should purchase travel insurance in your home country or choose private health insurance for the duration of your stay in Germany.
