Transferring from another university
As a rule, students transferring from another university of applied sciences or university in Germany to pursue a similar degree program or one with the same name can apply for entry into the first subject semester of degree programs with admission restrictions. After being granted admission, they are enrolled in the first subject semester at FAU. If students have sufficient credits eligible for accreditation from their previous studies, they can also apply at the same time for lateral entry into a higher subject semester (subject to admission restrictions), depending on how the academic year is structured.
Information on changing universities when studying Medicine, Medicine Erlangen/Bayreuth, Pharmacy, Food Chemistry and Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (MSc)
Students transferring from other universities who wish to continue their studies at FAU in the degree programs Medicine, Medicine Erlangen/Bayreuth, Pharmacy, Food Chemistry, or Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (MSc; “KliPs”) must apply for admission to the subject semester (subject to admission restrictions) immediately following the subject semester in which they were last enrolled at their previous university. It is irrelevant whether students’ individual academic achievements differ from this, and it is not possible for students to be enrolled in a lower semester.
Obstacle to enrollment
Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply for a degree program subject to admission restrictions if there is an obstacle to enrollment, for example, if, for reasons attributable to you, you are no longer able to meet the requirements for registering for an examination (for instance, if you have lost your right to take the examinations or have exhausted all opportunities to earn credits at your previous university in accordance with the relevant degree program and examination regulations).
Missing examinations
If applicants fail to include proof of passing examinations, any admission will be granted subject to the condition that the applicants must provide proof of passing the examination at the latest upon enrollment. If the following requirements are not met, FAU may refuse enrollment:
State Examination
- Food Chemistry from the 5th subject semester – proof of passing the first part of the examination
- Pharmacy from the 5th subject semester – proof of passing the first part of the examination in Pharmacy
- Dentistry from the 5th subject semester – proof of passing the first preclinical examination (naturwissenschaftliche Vorprüfung)
- Dentistry from the 6th subject semester – proof of passing the second preclinical examination in dentistry (zahnärztliche Vorprüfung)
- Medicine / 2nd stage from the 1st subject semester – proof of passing the first part of the State Examination in Medicine (Physikum)
Bachelor’s degree programs (BA, BA1/2, BSc)
Proof of passing the Grundlagen- und Orientierungsprüfung (GOP) or recognition thereof from the relevant Examinations Office at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg – from the 4th subject semester
