A key element of the research infrastructure at FAU is the comprehensive network of Competence Centers, offering services ranging from material analysis to innovative approaches in teaching and learning to research data management. One of the aims of the Competence Centers is to encourage knowledge transfer between research and applications and to support major research achievements.
With the overriding goal of encouraging research activities, FAU not only provides its researchers with technical resources, but also encourages a dynamic research environment. This includes open workshops, innovation spaces and creative labs that encourage like-minded people to get together and share ideas. In addition, a wide range of support systems are offered, including advice, funding for projects and opportunities for acquiring third-party funding.
Major instrumentation at FAU
FAU has a number of pieces of equipment and major instrumentation available for research purposes. These are usually acquired within the context of research projects, but remain at the respective organizational unit after the end of the project.
Many of these pieces of equipment have been approved for use by other research teams. Details are included in the CRIS Research Information System, allowing all researchers to make use of the facilities available. You can use the CRIS portal to record which equipment you have used in your various research projects and publications, to search for equipment available at FAU, and even to approve equipment for use by external parties.
