Deadlines for registering for module examinations for Bachelor’s/Master’s degree programs and certificates for students studying Medicine/Dentistry

- Regular registration period for all examinations that are offered once a semester or for the first date for examinations that are offered twice in the same semester: June 2 (00:01) until June 22, 2025 (23:59)
- Special registration period at WiSo for seminars and similar classes and events that have been announced by the Chairs (list): Monday, May 12, 2025 (0:01) and Tuesday, May 13, 2025 (23:59)
- Registration period for resit examinations offered in the same semester (second examination date at Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology, Faculty of Sciences or Faculty of Medicine):
From the Monday after the end of the current semester until March 20 (in the winter semester) or September 20 (in the summer semester)
Second examination dates at the Faculty of Sciences:
From the Monday four weeks before the lecture period begins in the following semester until the lecture period begins in the following semester. For the degree programs Pharmacy and Food Chemistry, the deadlines for registering for the second examination date are January 1 until April 30 for the winter semester and July 1 to October 31 for the summer semester.
Second examination dates at the Faculty of Medicine:
Students of Medicine/Dentistry should contact the secretaries’ offices of the relevant departments. Students studying Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Faculty of Medicine should contact the relevant degree program coordinator.
- Regular registration period for all examinations that are offered once a semester or for the first date for examinations that are offered twice in the same semester: November 17 (00:01) to December 7, 2025 (23:59)
- Special registration period at WiSo for seminars and similar classes and events that have been announced by the Chairs (list): Monday, October 27 (0:01) and Tuesday, October 28, 2025 (23:59)
- Registration period for resit examinations offered in the same semester (second examination date at Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology, Faculty of Sciences or Faculty of Medicine):
From the Monday after the end of the current semester until March 20 (in the winter semester) or September 20 (in the summer semester)
Second examination dates at the Faculty of Sciences:
From the Monday four weeks before the lecture period begins in the following semester until the lecture period begins in the following semester. For the degree programs Pharmacy and Food Chemistry, the deadlines for registering for the second examination date are January 1 until April 30 for the winter semester and July 1 to October 31 for the summer semester.
Second examination dates at the Faculty of Medicine:

Students must register for these examinations via campo.
The registration function is only activated during the registration period.
Opening hours
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 12 noon: It is often not necessary to visit the office in person. You can submit documents or final theses by post or by putting them in the FAU letterbox (Schlossplatz 3, Erlangen).

First part (M1n)
Students are no longer required to register in person. Registration documents M1 (PDF file or Word file) can be sent by post or delivered by hand to the letterbox of the University at Schlossplatz 3 from October 13, 2025 to January 10, 2026.
Please also note that January 10, 2026 is a Saturday and that the Examinations Office and University Administration will be closed entirely from December 20, 2025 up until and including January 6, 2026. Your application will not be processed during this period. We would therefore recommend submitting your application for admission by December 16, 2025 at the latest.
Second and third parts (M2 and M3)
We recommend handing your documents in to the Examinations Office in person (please note opening hours or arrange an appointment).
However, registration documents M2 and M3 (“Antrag für M2” or “Antrag für M3”) can also be sent by post or put in to the University’s letterbox at Schlossplatz 3.
Registration period M2 & M3: November 24, 2025 to January 10, 2026 (other deadlines apply for late submission of documents or for passing the required achievements pursuant to Appendix 2b or Appendix 4 ÄApprO).
Registration documents (see “Notes and forms” below) must be submitted by June 10, 2025.
You can either send your documents to us by post (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Prüfungsamt Zahnmedizin, Halbmondstr. 6, 91054 Erlangen), bring them to the Examinations Office in person, at room 1.057, first floor, or place them in the letter box at the same address. You are responsible for ensuring that you we receive your application for admission on time. We cannot consider applications that we receive after the stated deadline.
Please also note the relevant transitory provisions in the new licensing regulations for dentists regarding the deadlines according to which examinations can be taken under the previous licensing regulations (if you started your degree before winter semester 2021/22).
The application to sit the first, second or third part of the State Examination in Dentistry (see “Notes and forms”) must be completed in full and signed and submitted to the Examinations office with the documents listed in the application.
You can submit your application for the relevant part of the examination from the beginning of the lecture period of the relevant semester.
The deadline for registration and submission is January 10, for examinations in spring time (end of winter semester) or June 10, for examinations in fall (end of summer semester) (Section 21 nos. 1, 2, and 3 in conjunction with Section 19 (2) and (3), as well as Section 20 (1) ZApprO).
You can either bring your documents in person to the Examinations Office in person, Halbmondstr. 6, room 1.057, first floor, place them in the letter box at the same address, or send them by post (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Prüfungsamt Zahnmedizin, Halbmondstr. 6, 91054 Erlangen). You are responsible for ensuring that you we receive your application for admission on time. We cannot consider applications that we receive after the stated deadlines.
The Examinations Office can only identify errors in your application for admission or the required documents if you submit your application in good time. This allows you enough time to rectify or include any missing information and still submit everything by the deadline.

Please register for module 6.1 (part of the state examination for midwives pursuant to degree program and examination regulations for midwives, HebStPrV) on campo during the general examination registration period.

Examinations are held in November/December and May/June according to Licensing Regulations (Approbationsordnung) An announcement is generally made by the examiner 4 weeks before the examination date.

Dates for external subjects (“Außer-Haus Fächer”) can be made from Tuesday, August 5, 2025 onwards. The contact list from the Examinations Office will be available from August 5, 2025.
- First part (Z1) Autumn 2025: September 19 to October 2, 2025 (changes still possible for organizational reasons)
- Second part (Z2) Autumn 2025: September 15 to October 2, 2025 (changes still possible for organizational reasons)

The application for a license to practice medicine is available from the government of Lower Franconia and is also sent together with the letter of admission to the third part of the medical examination.

An application for the accreditation of course achievements should be submitted to the government of Upper Bavaria.

Individuals who have completed dental medical training outside of the EU/EEA may have to complete a knowledge assessment (Kenntnisprüfung) before they can be granted a license to practice dental medicine in Germany (see Section 3 (3) BÄO (Gesetz zur Ausübung der Zahnheilkunde – Act for Practicing Dental Medicine)). The government of Upper Bavaria will inform the Examinations Office of the people this applies to. Knowledge assessments are held all year round. You will receive a written invitation with the location and date of the examination at the latest five days before it is due to take place (see Section 37 (3)(2) ÄAppO).
The knowledge assessment may also be held at one of the university’s teaching hospitals. The examination documents are sent at the same time to the institution conducting the assessment. The results of the knowledge assessment are reported to the government of Upper Bavaria by FAU.
