Innovation has many dimensions
Innovation can be a product or a process, a position or a paradigm. It emerges in all dimensions of life, in all academic disciplines, in all areas within society, in every place, in every space, across all generations and interests. However, looking at the world, and indeed at universities too, there often seems to be a lack of innovative dynamics, results that fall short of expectations and a scarcity of strong communities that generate something new.
However, you only need to take a closer look to become aware of those areas where innovation is ubiquitous, where renewal is embedded in culture, tradition and attitudes. Where people come together, share ideas, enjoy experimenting and are exceptionally productive when it comes to shaping the future. Innovation research refers to these locations as “innovation hotspots”.
