Strategy and structure

Strategy at FAU means: Creating space for development while following clearly defined goals. A future-oriented structural concept based consistently on the University’s guiding principles strengthens FAU’s role as a platform for knowledge.

“FAU is a platform for freedom. This calls for innovation and responsibility: in management, in research, in studying and in knowledge transfer. In constant dialog with society, industry and politics, we are shaping the future.”
Prof. Dr. Kathrin M. Möslein, Vice President Outreach

Strategic development at FAU hinges on four fields guiding thinking and actions at FAU.

  • People: Strengthening people through sustainable personnel development, support for early career researchers, and diversity.
  • Education: Shaping education with flexible degree program structures, digital advances and international perspectives.
  • Research: Driving research forward following an interdisciplinary and international approach and geared towards relevance to society.
  • Outreach: Making an impact through open discussions with society, knowledge transfer, participation and science communication.

These four fields of action provide the framework for structural and development processes, guided by a combination of openness, responsibility and a flair for innovation. They demonstrate how strategic objectives at FAU can become concrete – and how structures make the future possible.
