‘This year the Long Night of Sciences was once again a complete success thanks to the efforts of all those involved at the faculties, departments and chairs,’ says FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger. He and the organisers would like to thank all those involved for their commitment and the enthusiasm with which they presented their work to the visitors.

A highlight of the evening was a visit by ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst who gave a presentation on his time in space to a packed-out Audimax. At all of the University’s locations visitors were able to get an idea of the research that goes on at FAU through activities, lectures and tours:

Bayerische Rundfunk reported live from the Long Night of Sciences on various topics. Some of the reports are available to watch online, such as the interview with FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger on why researchers are cool and the presentation by ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst on underwear in orbit.

International law expert Prof. Dr. Christoph Safferling also spoke to Bayerische Rundfunk in an interview, while Prof. Dr. Gisela Anton spoke about her search for the smallest particles and Prof. Dr. Peter Wasserscheid explained the revolution in energy technology.
