Visiting Prof. Dr. Siow Woon Ng, Professorship for Physical Chemistry of Interfaces.

Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors in their institutes. He visits them there to talk about their research, to discover what is close to their heart and to get to know them better. Our series introduces you to the researchers and gives an impression of the President’s meeting with them.

In episode 25, the President visits Prof. Dr. Siow Woon Ng. She holds the Professorship for Physical Chemistry of Interfaces at FAU.

Siow Woon Ng’s research focuses on atomic layer deposition, additive manufacturing and electrochemistry. Her aim is to design materials and to control their properties in order to solve problems that arise during energy conversion.

She thinks it’s great that she can construct materials from scratch rather like Lego, and that she can control them, even on the atomic level and change them in such a way that they absorb light or conduct electricity.
