A perfect summer weekend: In perfect weather, more than 5,000 guests enjoyed themselves on Saturday at the 69th FAU Schlossgartenfest.
An extensive program awaited the visitors: they were greeted by the stilt walkers. The Oldies Big Band played at the north entrance near the Orangery, in front of the Geozentrum Nordbayern the Jazz combo K36 Big Band. FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger gave his welcoming speech in front of the Orangery. Afterwards, the dancing continued with live music: The dance band Picobello from Nuremberg played in front of the Kollegienhaus, the Schaeffler Big Band performed on the middle stage on the main path and Los Chicolores played in front of the Botanical Garden. At 11 p.m., another great show highlight followed at the fountain illuminated by Wunderatsch: the baroque fireworks, which were followed by the fireworks display. The party then continued until 2 am.
The guests, including around 1,700 students, did not just enjoy themselves on the dance floor, as a knowledge trail had also been set up in the castle gardens. There, guests could marvel at and learn about various research projects and topics being pursued by our researchers and students, such as the reconstruction of a Celtic chariot by the Department of Ancient History, the race car built by the student association High Voltages e.V., and the Panopticum of the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT). Anyone who visited at least five of the seven stations was then able to pick up one of the highly coveted science cocktails at one of the bars at a reduced price.
