Visiting Prof. Dr. Nicolas Vogel, Chair of Interfaces and Particle Technology
Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors in their institutes. He visits them there to talk about their research, to discover what is close to their heart and to get to know them better.
Our series introduces you to the researchers and gives an impression of the President’s meeting with them.
In episode 26, the President visits Prof. Dr. Nicolas Vogel. He holds the Chair of Interfaces and Particle Technology at FAU.

Nicolas Vogel conducts research into particles and how they can be organized into ordered structures and macroscopic materials.

He takes his inspiration from nature, where different structures can generate a wide range of different properties.

Professor Vogel has been at FAU a long time, but before that he studied in Mainz and Seoul, and spent time as a postdoctoral researcher in Harvard.

Vogel is inspired by Pippi Longstocking and her healthy attitude to life.
