Since the mid-2010s, the term “digital sovereignty” has shaped debates worldwide—marking a departure from boundless, techno-deterministic visions of the digital age. In Erlangen, researchers from FAU and the French research group “Geopolitics of the Datasphere” present the international volume Geopolitics of Digital Sovereignty. This work offers a comparative analysis of digital policies in China, India, Russia, the USA, Cuba, and Europe, linking Digital Geography, Political Geography, and perspectives from political science, law, computer science, and economics. Key themes and selected chapters will be presented.
