Highly Cited Researchers List 2025 published

Five researchers from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) are included in the Highly Cited Researchers List. This list names the 6868 most influential researchers across the globe in 2025. With a total of 363 researchers included in the list, Germany is ranked number 4. The five FAU researchers are:

Prof. Dr. Georg Schett, Chair of Internal Medicine III

Prof. Dr. Robert Schober, Chair of Digital Communications

Prof. Dr. Christoph J. Brabec, Chair of Materials Science (Materials in Electronics and Energy Technology)

Prof. Dr. Jochen Guck, Chair of Biological Optomechanics (died in October 2025)

Prof. Dr. Markus F. Neurath, Chair of Internal Medicine I

The List of Highly Cited Researchers 2025 is based on both quantitative and qualitative analyses, aimed at pinpointing people across the globe who have had a significant and far-reaching impact on their specific research areas. Their achievements are proven on the basis of multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in the Web of Science, a portal which brings together various citation and literature databases. The list for 2025 refers to the year of publication 2024.
