Impressions from the Brown Bag Breaks @FAU:

On February 12, 2020, the Brown Bag Breaks @FAU – networking for “hungry” postdocs started another round in the historic conference room of FAU´s Old Library in downtown Erlangen. The topic of the Brown Bag Break @FAU was: “How to write a (potentially) successful grant proposal”. Professor Manami Sasaki, Dr. Karl Remeis Observatory Bamberg, presented her experiences with applying for third-party funding and gave the young researchers important first-hand information and useful tips. She has been advising the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) on strategic issues since 2020 and uses her scientific expertise to support the DFG in deciding which research projects the DFG will fund.

During the subsequent networking session, the postdocs were able to exchange ideas, ask Prof. Sasaki questions in person and enjoy the delicious snacks made from regional ingredients from the Erlangen bakery “Das Lorlebäck”, with which the Brown Bags were filled.
