Program overview

What is the degree program about?

The Bachelor’s degree program in Business Studies prepares students for careers in global and future-oriented sectors. The aim of the program is for students to acquire academic knowledge and learn specialist methods in the field of business studies and explore how these are applied in practice.

Bachelor’s degree programs at WiSo in Nuremberg have a strong international focus and offer one of the widest ranges of subjects in German-speaking countries.

The Bachelor’s degree program is split into two sections (semester 1-2: assessment phase and semester 3-6 Bachelor’s phase). In the first semesters in particular, students must complete various compulsory modules. This enables you to gain an initial overview of the business world, fundamental knowledge of methods and economics as well as fundamental skills in data science. At the beginning of the third semester at the latest, you select a specialization corresponding to your interests (Business Administration (BWL), Economics (VWL), Information Systems (WIN) or Business Education (WiPäd)). Parallel to this, modules from an interdisciplinary field of study can be chosen from the first semester onwards. During the final stage of the program, students prepare their Bachelor’s thesis.

Fields of Study

The fields of study consist of the introductory module in the first semester and five additional modules from the third semester. Irrespective of their selected specialization, students can choose one of ten potential fields of study. Compared to the specializations, the fields of study have an interdisciplinary focus. This gives students the option of specializing in particular areas of work or preparing for a specific Master’s degree program.

Further information about the following fields of study is available on the Business Studies degree program website:

  • Work and Human Resources
  • Data Science and Business Intelligence
  • Digitalization, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Finance, Auditing, Controlling, Taxation and Supplements
  • Health
  • Marketing and Customer Insights
  • Sustainability
  • Taxation
  • Economics, Politics and Society
  • Business Education

Specializations

From the third semester at the latest, Business Studies students can choose from four specializations: Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems and Business Education. Some of the modules of the specializations are compulsory, while others can be selected freely from certain areas. The relevant selection options are listed in the individual study plans and the module handbook. For example, students specializing in Business Administration can study managerial accounting and controlling or international business management, and students specializing in Economics can take modules in international economics or public sector economics. The subject advisors can offer assistance in selecting suitable combinations of modules.

Further information about the specializations is available on the Business Studies degree program website.

New from winter semester 2025/26:

WiPäd trial

Trial stands for a combination of Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and practical teacher training (Referendariat)

WiPäd trial always involves a second subject (please refer to WiPäd II Second subjects for more information).

The aim of the program is to provide students with practical training through valuable teaching placements at vocational schools from the very beginning and throughout their studies, as well as by integrating parts of state teacher training (Referendariat) into the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, optimally preparing them for a future career as a teacher at vocational schools in Bavaria.

Students in the WiPäd trial program receive a contract and earn money from the very first day of their studies – throughout the entire period of study, including exam periods and school vacations.

The program schedule is different to WiPäd I and II: Students in the WiPäd trial program start before the beginning of lectures with a four-week practical phase at a WiPäd trial partner school in Nuremberg – supported by academic experts and experienced teachers. As the program progresses (Bachelor’s and Master’s), students alternate between study phases and practical phases at school. Thanks to this smart combination of theory and practice, students can shorten the pathway to becoming a vocational teacher in Bavaria by one year.

The WiPäd trial program always starts in the winter semester. There are 30 places available and you will need to apply in a separate application process. Admission to the WiPäd trial degree program is always for the 1st subject semester of the Bachelor’s degree program. Lateral entry into a higher subject semester, for example, by means of accrediting previous achievements from a previous degree is currently not possible in either the Bachelor’s degree program or the Master’s degree program.

Which skills do I need?

  • Motivation and enjoyment in passing on knowledge
  • A willingness to make an effort and an interest in getting involved
