Program overview

What is the degree program about?

The Bachelor’s degree program in Business Studies prepares students for careers in global and future-oriented sectors. The aim of the program is for students to acquire academic knowledge and learn specialist methods in the field of business studies that they are able to apply in practice. The Bachelor’s degree program at the School of Business, Economics and Society in Nuremberg has a strong international focus and offers one of the widest ranges of subjects of any such program in German-speaking countries.

This degree program is taught in German. Therefore, a good knowledge of German is an essential prerequisite to successfully completing the degree program. Proof of German language proficiency at DSH 2 level or equivalent is required for admission.

The Bachelor’s degree program is divided into two study phases (semesters 1-2: assessment phase and semesters 3-6: Bachelor’s phase): In the first semesters in particular, you will take various compulsory courses. This will give you an initial overview of the world of business, basic methodological and economic knowledge and fundamental data science skills. By the beginning of the third semester at the latest, you will choose a specialization (Business Administration, Economics, Business Information Systems and Business Education) that matches your interests. At the same time, you can take modules from a specific interdisciplinary field of study from the first semester onwards. At the end of the Bachelor’s degree course, you will write a Bachelor’s thesis.

Fields of Study

The fields of study consist of the introductory module in the first semester and five further modules from the third semester onwards. Students can choose one of ten possible fields of study regardless of their choice of specialization. In contrast to the specializations, the fields of study have an interdisciplinary focus. This gives students the opportunity to specialize in particular areas of work or to prepare for a specific Master’s degree course.

The respective selection options can be found in the individual curricula and the module handbook. Students specializing in Business Administration, for example, attend courses such as Cost Accounting and Controlling or International Business Management, while students specializing in Economics take subjects such as International Economics or Public Sector Economics. The student advisory services can help you choose a suitable combination of modules.
