Program overview

What is the degree program about?

Digital media can help to shape the socialization of adolescents. They can enhance teaching and learning processes as well as school organization and development in a meaningful way, but they can also interfere with them. In view of the inevitability of the influence of media and the dynamics of technical development, an in-depth examination of this issue within the teacher training course is extremely topical and important.

The additional study course “General and subject-related education in the digital world” enables teaching degree students to focus on media education and thus to examine questions of education in a digital world in depth. The certificate program forms a link between the basics of the teaching degree program and additional subjects in media education and computer science.

The additional study course „AllfaBilDigital“ comprises three modules:

  • Basics of media-based teaching and education (at least 5 ECTS credits)
  • Subject-related education in the digital world (at least 5 ECTS credits)
  • Computer science and information technology basics (at least 5 ECTS credits)

The modules combine courses that are offered in the teacher degree program and have a subject-specific focus. Within each of these modules, students must successfully complete two seminars in order to obtain the certificate. The seminars currently being offered can be viewed on the DigiLLab website.

The „AllfaBilDigital“ additional study course motivate students to focus on education in the digital world during the teaching degree program. Suitable courses are identified for this purpose. For further specialization, students can take the supplementary course in media education or a qualification in the field of computer science.

Admission requires enrollment at FAU in a state examination degree program for teaching, in the Master’s degree program in Technical Vocational Education and Training or the Master’s degree program in Business Education.

FAU is characterized by its special expertise in the field of media education and media teaching with the various specializations. The DigiLLab is a central advisory, service and research facility where lecturers, students and teaching staff are given the opportunity to gain qualifications in the field of media education and computer science. It provides space to try out different technologies and develop usage scenarios.
