What is the degree program about?
In this degree program, you will acquire advanced knowledge of the history of various periods and regions, based on discussions of the latest research findings and detailed work with sources. You will also carry out independent research. You can choose which specific areas you wish to study, as you have the opportunity to select period-specific specializations from the following areas:

- Eastern European history
- Bavarian and Franconian regional history

Admission Requirements and Application
Admission
- Master: Qualification assessment
Application deadline
- Winter semester: 15.07.
- Summer semester: 15.01.
Language skills
- All applicants require proof of good proficiency in Latin and previous knowledge of a modern foreign language (usually English) at least on the level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The secondary education certificate (Abiturzeugnis) and similar qualifications are accepted as proof of language proficiency. Students may submit proof of „good proficiency in Latin“ up to one year after starting the degree program in History if they are admitted subject to meeting certain conditions.
- German language skills for international applicants: DSH 2 (written 2 / oral 1) or equivalent
Content related master requirements
- A two-subject Bachelor’s degree with history as the first or second subject. Your final grade in the degree should be „gut“ (good – 2.5 or better). If your final grade is poorer than 2.5, an admissions committee will decide whether or not you can be admitted to the degree program.
- A degree in a related subject (includes almost all degrees studied at a faculty of humanities and social sciences, as well as church history, legal history and technical history)
