Full Professorship (W3) for New Testament I

(Theology of the New Testament)

at the Institute of New Testament Studies. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by 1 April 2022.

We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile as the Chair of New Testament I. The successful candidate will have published at least one monograph on a central aspect of the theology of the New Testament. A further focus in ancient Judaism and/or exegetic methodology is desirable.

Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree in Protestant theology and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications (e.g., a second monograph). You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).

Full Professorship (W3) for Technology Management

at the School of Business, Economics and Society for the Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT). The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.

We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The successful candidate will also be assigned to the Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT). The NCT and its partners FAU and TH Nuremberg are working on the challenges and opportunities facing cities of the future, in the transition to new energy systems and mobility concepts, increased sustainability and new security requirements. The NCT was established in order to transfer applied research and train highly-skilled professionals based on the needs of industry and society, develop Nuremberg as a location for higher education and promote networking between the cooperating universities and faculties.

The Professorship for Technology Management should therefore address the interaction between the development and implementation of innovative technologies and economic and social systems, focusing mainly on the economic perspective. We welcome applications from individuals who are willing to cooperate with professors at the participating universities and faculties and who are prepared to actively contribute to the development of international degree programmes at FAU, particularly in the area of modules taught in English.

The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the field of technology management in research and teaching (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes). The professor will be expected to conduct research focusing on economic aspects of technology management and will ideally address several of the following research areas:

  • Strategic technology management
  • Technology identification and evaluation
  • Technology marketing and communication
  • Technology transfer and research and development collaboration
  • Management of disruptive technological change (e.g. in production, industrial, energy or health sectors)
  • Social and societal impact of digital technologies

We expect candidates to have an excellent international track record in technology management and a background that complements the research priorities of the School of Business, Economics and Society.

W2 Professorship for Applied Mathematics

(Associate Professor)

at the Department of Mathematics. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.

We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile and represent the field adequately in research and teaching. We welcome applications from candidates who wish to focus on a modern field of applied mathematics, for example partial differential equations, calculus of variations or inverse problems. Experience with numerical methods and applications is desirable. The professor is expected to collaborate within the Research Training Group IntComSin. In addition to teaching in the mathematics curriculum, involvement in the MSc programme Computational and Applied Mathematics, mathematics training for engineers and a planned degree programme in Data Science is desirable.

The professorship will focus on data analysis and forecasting and the research activities should deal with mathematical aspects of topics such as statistical learning theory or combining optimisation and learning methods. Candidates who can demonstrate experience in interdisciplinary research related to current research initiatives at the Department and FAU are desirable. Teaching responsibilities in the degree programmes in mathematics at the Department include introductory lectures in statistics and stochastics. The professor is expected to contribute to academic events.

(Assistant Professor)

at the Department of Mathematics. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointment will be extended for another three years.

We seek to appoint a top early career scientist who will develop outstanding expertise in the field in research and teaching. The position is aimed at furthering expertise in developing models and methods for optimisation problems and will ideally form a bridge from integer to continuous optimisation. It is expected that the candidates’ research activities will be anchored in mathematics with a proven interest in interdisciplinary research, in particular in the energy context.

The Faculty of Medicine at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites applications for an

Associate Professorship (W2) / Full Professorship (W3) for Neonatology

at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the earliest possible starting date.

The professorship is to be filled for an initial period of six years (W2) or permanently (W3) if the relevant requirements are met. Appointment to a W2 or W3 professorship is dependent on the applicant’s qualifications. FAU offers the perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.

We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in patient care, research and teaching. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary development of perinatal research in cooperation with the Level 1 Perinatal Centre, integrating other divisions and specialisations at the Department. Close collaboration with other clinical departments, institutes at the Faculty of Medicine, and institutes at the other faculties of the University is expected. The Faculty of Medicine offers degree programmes in medicine, dentistry, molecular medicine, medical process management and logopaedics.
