Tenure Track Professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Orthodontics (W2 / Associate Professor)

Tenure Track Professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Orthodontics
(W2 / Associate Professor)
at the Department of Orthodontics and Orofacial Orthopedics. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers a long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The successful candidate will also be responsible for expanding and connecting the various key research priorities in the field of orthodontics. Candidates are expected to have an international reputation in research into medical data science and experience in analyzing clinical data. In order to encourage sustainable development of AI applications now and in the future, the professorship will focus on the areas of 3D or quantitative imaging and/or biogenetic datasets, intelligent data integration procedures and data analysis.
The ideal candidate is an internationally recognized personality who is skilled at working with a wide range of different methods, and can prove that this is the case with excellent publications and success in raising third-party funding. Close collaboration with other clinics and institutes at the Faculty of Medicine as well as institutions at the other faculties as well as involvement in research associations such as DFG Collaborative Research Centers and interdisciplinary centers is a must. The successful candidate will also be expected to share their knowledge with other stakeholders in the AI health hub (https://www.bayern.de/hightech-agenda-bayern/) and initiate joint activities or research projects. The professor will be involved in teaching dentistry, medicine, artificial intelligence (Faculty of Engineering), and data science in combination with medical data science (Faculty of Sciences). Teaching will be conducted in both German and English. Furthermore, the professor is expected to become involved in establishing structured doctoral degrees in dentistry. The professor will become a secondary member of the Faculty of Engineering, linked to the newly established Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering.
Successful candidates demonstrate excellent academic achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired the necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).

Associate Professorship (W2) / Full Professorship (W3) for
Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation
at the Department of Medicine 5 – Hematology and Oncology. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date, either for an initial period of six years (W2), or if certain conditions are met, as a permanent position (W3). The decision as to whether the professor is appointed as an associate (W2) or full (W3) professor depends on the candidate’s qualifications. In the event of appointment as a W2 professor, FAU offers a long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The professor will be expected to take an active role in research, teaching and patient care, and will be responsible for heading the unit of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The successful candidate is expected to conduct excellent basic research in the area of graft versus host and graft versus leukemia immune reactions (CRC/Transregio TRR221) and be prepared to contribute innovative concepts to clinical research projects, in close collaboration with the Department. The Department of Medicine 5 – Hematology and Oncology focuses on allogeneic stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapy for malignant diseases.
The professor will be expected to play an active part in the research networks at the Faculty of Medicine (collaborative research centers, research training groups, Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research) as well as in teaching students. The teaching language is both German and English. Degree programs offered at the Faculty of Medicine are medicine, dentistry, molecular medicine (in German and in English), medical process management, midwifery science and logopedics, as well as the interdisciplinary degree programs medical engineering and integrated immunology.

Candidates must provide evidence of a license as a consultant in the field of hematology/oncology.

at the Department of Electrical Engineering. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The professor will conduct research in the field of electrical power engineering, teach and hold a leadership position as the Chair of Electrical Power Engineering. Applicants should have an outstanding scientific record in one or more of the following research areas and have acquired relevant project management skills and/or industrial expertise:
– Resilient energy systems
– Sustainable power generation and storage systems
– Electrical plants and equipment
Candidates with research priorities similar to electrical power engineering are also welcome to apply. Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other disciplines at FAU is expected, as is teaching compulsory and practical courses at the Department and neighboring disciplines in the Faculty of Engineering.
