at the Institute of Systematic Theology. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by 01.04.2024.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile in the following fields at the School of Theology: the fundamental questions of religious studies, contemporary religions and religious movements, the global history of religions, intercultural and contextual theology and the global history of Christianity. Candidates should also have experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research networks, be willing to contribute to research focus areas and initiatives at the Faculty and work with international partners of the School. Applicants will have ideally gathered significant international exposure during their academic careers. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to all degree programmes at the School of Theology and to developing the School’s research profile.
Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree in Protestant Theology and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).

Full Professorship (W3) for Clinical Psychology and Behavioural Health Technology
as part of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria at the Department of Psychology. The professorship is a full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a leading expert with an internationally visible research and teaching profile. Relevant prior work in one or more of the areas of Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy Research, Ecological Momentary Assessment, mobile Mental Health, Affective Sensing, Affective Computing, self-optimizing Recommender Systems, or just-in-time Interventions for the treatment of mental health disorders is desired. In research, the applicant should excel in competitive external funding and be internationally visible through excellent publications. The professor should strengthen the faculty’s research focus area of ‘Health over the Life Course’ and contribute to the DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB1483 ‘Empathokinesthetic Sensory Systems’. The professor will be expected to teach in programmes leading to a licence to practise as a psychotherapist. The candidate must therefore have a licence to practise as a psychotherapist or advanced training in this area (with at least PT1 completed).

W2 Professorship for Research on Firms, Labor Markets, and Occupations
(Associate Professor)
to be appointed as a joint professorship in partnership with the Institute of Employment Research (IAB). The professorship is a full-time position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
We seek to appoint a successful researcher who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile, which includes teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at FAU. The successful candidate is expected to become actively involved in administering academic affairs and acquiring third-party funding. FAU pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods. It is desirable that candidates be able and willing to teach in English.
FAU and the IAB expect applicants to have a research profile in the area of applied, econometrically-oriented research on labor markets or occupations, preferably focusing on firms in this research, and a willingness to represent all aspects of these fields.
At the IAB, the professor will be appointed as the head of the research area ‘Establishments and Employment’. Further tasks at the IAB include the acquisition and coordination of third-party funded projects, the development of survey data and linking these to register data, policy advice, and assuming responsibilities in personnel and research management. Experience in these tasks or the willingness to learn this is expected.
The President will appoint the professor as a public servant on a fixed-term contract or under private employment law initially for a period of six years at FAU and will grant the professor an unpaid leave of absence for the employment relationship with IAB. An extension of the cooperation agreement and a possible extension of the term of the position are generally sought. Employment at the IAB is based on the rules governing leadership positions not covered by collective agreements (AT-positions) concept of the Federal Employment Agency.

at the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law at FAU in partnership with the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research GmbH in Mannheim. The professorship is a full-time position to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years.
We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile in the field of health care economics with a focus on the analysis of routine, survey and experimental data on the behaviour of health care providers and patients. Candidates with a background in microeconometrics focusing on the identification of the causal effects of political instruments are desired.
The ZEW is one of six Leibniz economic research institutes in Germany (www.zew.de). It focuses on applied empirical research and its main goals are economic policy research and evidence-based policy advising. The holder of the position will be granted leave from ZEW for the duration of the professorship and will assume the role of head of the ‘Health Care Markets and Health Policy’ group. The group is dedicated to the analysis of health care markets and the evaluation of health policy measures. Teaching duties at the School of Business, Economics and Society at FAU comprise two semester hours. Candidates will be expected to be actively involved in the degree programmes offered by the School, in particular the Master’s degree programme in Health Management and Health Economics and the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Business and Economics and Social Economics.

The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of three years. Upon successful evaluation, the appointment will be extended for another three years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W3 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
The professorship will be funded with funds from the Federal and State programme run by the German government for supporting young researchers. All professorships from this programme are aimed at strategically strengthening our interdisciplinary key research priorities and are therefore deliberately worded to cover a wide range of topics. Our key concern is to attract outstanding young researchers who are committed to developing their own research profile and their career in collaboration with leading researchers at FAU, whilst helping to shape strategic fields of interest for the future (‘open topic tenure track’). The advertised professorship will be assigned to ‘The World of Work’. Successful candidates will be invited to get involved in the FAU key research priority ‘the World of Work’ as well as in the interdisciplinary centre LASER and the Center for Management, Technology and Society (CMTS).

at the Department of Medicine 5 – Haematology and Oncology, to be appointed within the framework of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years. FAU offers a long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.
We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The professor will be responsible for researching the effects of inflammation on tissue and the related mechanisms behind organ damage. The ideal candidate should take a translational approach to research, and be an expert in the methods used to determine the molecular processes leading to organ damage. We expect skills in cutting-edge technologies used in cellular and molecular biology (such as SCseq), an ability to influence specific mechanisms behind organ damage such as fibroses in model systems and the involvement of patients and clinical samples. The professorship is intended to strengthen the research focus areas of the Faculty of Medicine in the area of immunology and research into inflammation in existing (especially CRC1181) and planned research networks.
The professor will be expected to teach in the degree programmes in Medicine, Molecular Medicine and the Master’s degree programme in Medical Process Management at the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the Master’s degree programme in Medical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, and the Master’s degree programme in Integrated Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Sciences.
