FAU congratulates Siegfried Russwurm on his appointment as president of the Federation of German Industries (BDI)

Prof. Dr. Ing. Siegfried Russwurm will assume his position as president of the BDI (Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie – Federation of German Industries) in January 2021.

Russwurm has had close links with FAU for several years. He gained an engineering degree in manufacturing technology at FAU before gaining a doctoral degree at the Chair of Applied Mechanics where he researched numerical simulation processes. In the late 1980s, Russwurm worked as a research associate and research assistant at the same chair at FAU.

Siegfried Russwurm was appointed honorary professor at FAU in 2009 and has been holding lectures in mechatronics at the University ever since. He teaches mechatronics to Master’s degree students every semester. In 2019, Prof. Dr. Russwurm was awarded the Helmut Volz Medal, which is the highest honour awarded by the Faculty of Engineering at FAU.

FAU would like to wish Professor Russwurm every success in his new role as president of the BDI.
