University election to be held electronically for the first time at FAU

The university election has started. It’s the perfect opportunity to have your say on how FAU is run. All those eligible to vote can cast their votes during the election period from 12 noon on Tuesday 15 June 2021 to 12 noon on Tuesday 22 June 2021. The university elections are being conducted this year as an electronic election with the option of a postal vote for the first time. This makes FAU the first university in Bavaria to hold electronic university elections.

Who can be elected?

This year, representatives of the various stakeholder groups (professors, research staff, administrative staff) are to be elected to the Senate, the Faculty Councils of the five faculties and to the Appointments Council of the School of Theology. Students are also able to vote on who is to represent them in the respective Student Committees and in the Student Council.

The groups of candidates (Wahlvorschläge) for the University election have already been announced and are listed, for example, on the Elections Office website.

Who is eligible to vote and how can you cast your vote?

All members of the University who were included in the electoral register at the time it was closed on 18 May 2021 are eligible to vote. Those who are eligible to vote have already received their polling card via the election portal online-wahlen.fau.de or in writing by post.

In addition, the electronic polling station is accessible via the online-wahlen.fau.de election portal during the election period from 12 noon on 15 June 2021 to 12 noon on 22 June 2021. Use your IdM user name and password to log on to the election portal.

Postal voters must submit their votes to the Elections Office by the latest at 12 noon on the last day of the election period on 22 June 2021 in order for them to be counted.

Election of doctoral candidates’ representatives

The election of doctoral candidates’ representatives is taking place at the same time as the general University election. The election is being held exclusively as an electronic election. All doctoral candidates entered in the electronic register of doctoral candidates ‘docDaten’ at the time the electoral register was closed on 18 May 2021 are eligible to vote.

You can access your polling card and the electronic polling station in the FAU election portal at online-wahlen.fau.de. Please use your IdM user name and IdM password to log in.
