Work experience abroad
If you would like to use the subject knowledge you have gained during your studies in other countries and familiarize yourself with a profession while gaining some work experience, then a period spent working abroad is the right choice for you. In addition, you will experience a different labor culture and gain foreign language skills. Work experience abroad needs careful planning, however. Please therefore ensure you start planning your stay abroad early on. We would recommend starting to prepare 12 months before the planned starting date.
Work experience abroad can vary greatly, depending on your subject and interests:
- Erasmus+ traineeships are a good option for internships relevant to your studies.
- Medical students can spend their final year (clinical rotation) or clinical elective abroad.
- Exciting opportunities are available abroad for teaching degree students with assistant teaching abroad.
- Work experience abroad can also involve a research stay as part of your final thesis.
In order to help you look for a suitable position, we have put together a selection of websites and portals for looking for internships abroad. FAU offers financial support for an internship or traineeship abroad. The link also contains information about funding for internships and final theses.
