Studying part time allows students to complete a degree program with a reduced number of hours per semester. The content and objectives of the degree program remain unchanged, but the workload per semester is halved and the degree program stretched out over a longer period of time. This makes part-time study particularly attractive for people with professional, family or other commitments. It also promotes aspects such as family friendliness, lifelong learning and equal opportunities.
Difference between part-time study and degree programs for working professionals
Degree programs for working professionals are primarily self-study courses. The lectures and seminars usually take place during the evenings and at weekends. Virtual lectures and seminars are also often available. Students can easily integrate their professional work into their studies, for example in project work.
