What does a food chemist actually do? FAU alumna Nina Simon is laboratory manager at the Münchener Stadtentwässerung and in the latest edition of the FAU Alumni #JobInsights video series she gives tips on salary negotiations, job searches and preparing for the state exam.

Doing a doctorate after completing your studies – many people ask themselves whether this is the right path. Also FAU alumnus Dr. Dominic Lindner was faced with this question and decided to do his doctorate at the FAU Chair of IT Management. Today Dr. Lindner works as an independent management consultant and as a project manager at the IT service provider noris network. In the video interview he tells us how his personal journey went and gives helpful tips.

FAU alumnus Uwe Strübing studied biology and pharmacy in Erlangen. In addition to his professional career as a hospital pharmacist, he never lost sight of his second passion after graduating: music. Since then, he has composed numerous small piano pieces and large orchestral works - including an elaborate festive cantata for FAU's 275th anniversary.

Many bright minds study, research and work at our FAU. Like the FAU alumni Pauline Nöldemann and Yannick Wiesner: They developed the BesserEsser app - an app for detecting and treating food intolerances. Our colleague Johanna Hojer met both of them for an interview.

She is a member of the Bundestag and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Finance: FAU alumna Katja Hessel. In addition to her job as a politician, Katja Hessel also works as a lawyer in her own law firm. In the video interview, she tells anecdotes from her first day in the Bundestag and reveals more about her time studying at FAU.

With the Deutschlandstipendium, alumni of FAU support committed students on their way to successfully completing their studies and taking their first steps into the professional world, for example with internships.

FAU Alumnus Michael Kobr has been writing the popular detective stories about Inspector Kluftinger with his school friend Peter Klüpfel for 20 years. Already during his studies at FAU, he was praised for his writing talent in term papers and exams. In an interview with the FAU Alumni management, he tells us how he became a crime novel author and a lot more.
