Tasks:
Working group 1: Knowledge and technology transfer (WTT)
- Support for initiating and defining transfer projects
- Drawing up project offers, support in drafting and checking project calculations and in looking for possible sources of funding
- Financial and administrative project management for departments and chairs at FAU (including reporting and reimbursing sales tax)
- Providing simplified approval for secondary employment relating to knowledge and technology transfer and drawing up the relevant annual statistics
- Organization of WTT events and networking events
- Planning and organization of technology walks at FAU
Working group 2: Alumni and event management
- Alumni management
- Planning and organizing image events and coordinating external event and service agencies
- Fundraising for the Deutschlandstipendium, sponsoring and marketing (companies advertising and recruiting at FAU)
Working group 3: Patent consultation office (Erfinderberatung) and patent management
- Consultation and supervision throughout the entire patenting process
- Assistance with searching in product databases
- Project-specific wording and negotiations on IP clauses in cooperation agreements entered into by FAU (in consultation with H3)
- Drawing up and negotiating contracts on the use of free inventions developed at FAU
- Supporting and representing Universitätsklinikum Erlangen in all matters relating to advice on inventions and patent management
- Courses, presentations and lectures on the topic of patenting, copyright etc. (e.g. Graduate Center, entrepreneur training, chairs (members of staff), students)
- Representing FAU in the Network of Bavarian Patent Consultants together with the Bavarian Patent Alliance
Working group 4: Start-up Service at FAU
- Teaching students and doctoral candidates how to develop entrepreneurial skills
- Advice for all members at FAU who wish to set up their own company (from the initial idea to establishing a business idea and business plan to setting up a company)
- Providing advice and applying for start-up funding (Bavarian funding program for facilitating start-ups (FLÜGGE), funding program from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (EXIST))
- Representing FAU with respect to participation in spin-offs (drawing up contractual options and negotiating them, obtaining approval from the relevant ministries, meeting shareholder obligations)
- Planning, organizing and carrying out initiatives and events on raising awareness for start-ups (€5 business, idea challenge, monthly start-up cafés, start-up challenge, financing day etc.)
- Involvement in Gründernetzwerk Nordbayern and in the Bavarian association HOCHSPRUNG
Working group 5: Continuing education
- Managing all matters regarding participants and speakers in all continuing education offers at FAU (registration and enrollment, drawing up participant agreements, fee contracts, applying for secondary employment, paying remuneration), catering to the needs of degree program coordinators
- Processing finances for the individual measures (drawing up invoices for participants, booking monies received, issuing reminders, monitoring payments made in installments, drawing up annual accounts for measures and determining overall results)
- Planning new offers for continuing education in collaboration with faculties and chairs
- Providing those responsible for new courses with assistance in drawing up documents for committees (in particular financial planning, marketing concept and business model)
- Creating certificates of participation and final certificates
- Involvement in the Bavarian branch of the German Association for University Continuing and Distance Education (DGWF)
