For the second year running, FAU is included in the THE subject ranking for all eleven subjects that were investigated. Worldwide, it made it into the top 200 for eight subject groups, and within Germany even into the top 20 with all subjects.

According to the Shanghai subject ranking 2023, FAU is among the top 100 universities in the world in five subjects. In Germany, FAU even managed to jump into the top 10 in twelve subjects. A total of more than 1900 universities from 104 countries were evaluated.

According to a recent study, more than 200 researchers at FAU belong to the top two percent of the most frequently cited academics worldwide.

In the international THE World University Ranking, FAU remains among the top 10 percent of participating universities in 2023. We are particularly pleased to have gained the top place in the area of Industry.

The Shanghai Ranking 2023 has been published and FAU has cause for celebration: Coming in at number 17, FAU retains its place among the top 20 universities in Germany. Internationally, FAU is among the top 10 percent of all universities included in the survey.

FAU has once again performed excellently in The Centre for Higher Education’s (CHE) university ranking. The subjects evaluated were business administration, economics, law, information systems, industrial engineering and management, and business studies.

FAU performed its best in Material Sciences again this year. Within Germany, FAU is among the leading universities with nine subjects recognized in the top 15.

The CHE Master’s ranking 2022 indicates that many Master’s students are very happy with their choice of FAU. The survey focused on engineering subjects and psychology. Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and Psychology did particularly well among Master’s students.

FAU has once again performed well in THE subject rankings. This year, for the first time, all 11 of the subjects reviewed made it into the rankings. The best international ranking was obtained by Engineering, coming in at place 102, and 5th in Germany, as was Business and Economics.

Energy Science and Engineering (40), Telecommunication Engineering (64), Metallurgical Engineering (73) and Medical Technology (88) – these are the subjects in which FAU has once again ranked among the top 100 best universities worldwide in the recently published Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Energy Science and Engineering has moved up six places compared to the previous year.
