Bachelor’s degree programs

A Bachelor’s degree is an academic degree program that is the first degree that can be gained at university level. It usually lasts six semesters. During their Bachelor’s degree program, students complete a range of compulsory and compulsory elective modules that are tailored to their chosen subject. These modules can include lectures, seminars, practical exercises and lab work, for example. A Bachelor’s degree is usually completed by writing a Bachelor’s thesis, after which students are awarded their Bachelor’s degree.

Possible combinations for two-subject Bachelor’s degree programs

The two-subject Bachelor’s degree program at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology combines a selection of 29 different subjects that cannot, however, be freely combined with each other. Please read the following information carefully:

Table of possible combinations

Overview of combinable subjects (PDF)

Not all combinations of subjects can be studied without overlaps. If you would like to study a combination of subjects that is marked blue in the overview of combinations, we recommend that you seek advice from the Student Advice Center (ZSB) and the Student Service Center.

Advice for subject combinations with possible overlaps (“blue” combinations)

The Student Advice Center (ZSB) and the Student Service Center (SSC) offer online consultations via this Zoom link: https://fau.zoom-x.de/j/61386653735

Tuesdays, 3pm-4pm on July 7, July 21, August 4, August 18, September 1, September 15, and September 29.

Thursdays, 10am-11pm on July 2, July 16, July 30, August 13, August 27, September 10, and September 24.

Please ensure you have access to your degree program and examination regulations and the degree program structure during the consultation session. Part-time students do not require a consultation. During the consultation, you can find out how to avoid overlaps and what you should look out for when putting your schedule together.

Advice for putting your schedule together for combinations of subjects without overlaps (“white” combinations)

Since designing your own schedule in a combined degree program often raises questions at the start of the degree program, the Student Services Center at FAU’s Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology offers online consultations for students. The dates and tips for creating a schedule are available here: https://www.phil.fau.de/studium/studienbeginn/stundenplan/

Proof of language skills

Any language skills required can also be acquired during the degree program, which means you do not need proof of your language skills for enrollment.
