Outstanding commitment to FAU

FAU awards the title of honorary senator to individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to FAU as a whole. The following have been named honorary senators of FAU:

  • Dr. Günther Beckstein, former Bavarian Prime Minister
  • Dr. August Drechsler, former president of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Heide and Horst Feldmeier,  founders of Dr. Jutta-Feldmeier-Stiftung
  • Ernst Freiberger, main share holder and former member of the supervisory board at Medical Park AG
  • Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Freund, former chairman of FAU’s University Council

FAU awards the title of honorary citizen for extraordinary contributions to the University or one of its institutions. The following have been named honorary citizens of FAU:

  • Otto Feil, former mayor of the town of Pleinfeld
  • Dipl.-Ing. Rudolf Frank, director of Siemens AG, Erlangen

 

The honorary title of FAU-Ambassador is awarded to excellent researchers with the highest international reputation in their field of research and who have received international prizes and awards and are particularly committed to FAU. The following researchers have been awarded the title of FAU-Ambassadors:
