New degree programs from winter semester 2025/26 – part-time options available
FAU includes Bachelor’s degree program on sustainability and Master’s degree program on conservative dentistry
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) offers more than 275 exciting degree programs. Several more are to be added from the coming winter semester. As well as a Bachelor’s degree program in Earth Systems, Resources and Biodiversity, there will also be new Master’s degree programs, including one in Learning Design and one in Industrial Engineering and Management.

Up until now, the Master’s degree program in Industrial Engineering and Management has only been offered as a full-time program. As of winter semester 2025/26 it will also be offered as a part-time option with eight semesters standard duration of study. In the part-time degree program students can choose freely between engineering and management specializations. The degree qualifies graduates for entry into careers in business, administration or politics.

Another new degree program on offer is the Bachelor’s degree program in “Geo Sustainability: Earth Systems, Resources, Biodiversity”. Over a regular duration of study of six semesters, students explore the topics of climate and Earth system, resources and biodiversity. The degree program is split into three phases: In the first two semesters, students explore social and geoscientific challenges before reflecting in specialization modules on possible solutions and research approaches. They are required to complete an internship and write up their own research. A wide range of possible career options are open to graduates stretching from working in environmental authorities to industrial companies focusing on developing resource-efficient materials or even in museums.

The Master’s degree program in Learning Design – Digital Transformation in Education is now available for part-time study It covers the same content as the full-time program, but is stretched over eight semesters standard duration of study. The degree program addresses graduates with a background in education science or another related subject. Modules in media education, educational technology, innovation, learning design, media ethics and legal principles allow students to build on the knowledge they have already acquired in the area of media education. One special feature of the degree program is that it prepares graduates for entering careers in adult education or life-long learning.
Further informationNew specialization “WiPäd TRIAL” introduced to the Bachelor’s degree program in Business Studies
As of winter semester 2025/26 a new specialization will be included under the area of business education in the Bachelor’s degree program in Business Studies: “WiPäd TRIAL”. “WiPäd TRIAL“ combines theoretical units at university with practical training in the form of school placements or similar activities in educational settings. In addition to the existing specializations, students can also choose a second subject from the range of subjects offered at FAU such as German, ethics, mathematics or special education. One special feature is that students receive remuneration for their practical sessions at a vocational school in Nuremberg from the first semester onwards.

The new Master’s degree program in Conservative Dentistry offers practicing dentists the option of continuing education in the various areas covered by conservative dentistry. The first four semesters cover subjects such as periodontology, endodontics and pediatric dentistry, with students examining case studies and focusing on patient care. Students write their Master’s thesis in the fifth semester.
