University elections: Stand for election and help shape FAU!

Students and doctoral candidates can submit election nominations for the university elections until May 6, 2026.

In June, students at FAU will vote for their representatives in the Faculty Councils and in the Student Council. With their vote, they will also decide who will represent them in the Student Committees and in the Appointments Council for the School of Theology. The election for the doctoral candidates’ representatives will take place at the same time as the other university elections, with doctoral candidates from each faculty voting on who should represent them. The elected members form the Doctoral Candidates’ Council. The term of office for the new members will begin on October 1, 2026 and last for one year.

Why should I vote?

Getting involved in academic affairs enables members of FAU to participate in the most important decisions that are made about the structure and organization of the University and to shape teaching and research. Student representation is where students discuss their goals and make decisions that they pursue further in Faculty Councils and in the Senate. Ensuring that the interests of the doctoral candidates are well represented is also an important component of academic self-governance at FAU and an excellent opportunity to take an active part in shaping university policy.

Election nominations for the Faculty Councils and Student Committees, for the Student Council and for the doctoral candidates’ representatives can be submitted from April 23 until 4 pm on May 6, 2026 to the FAU Elections Office (Freyeslebenstraße 1, 91058 Erlangen, level 03, room no. 03.5234) or via mail. The forms are available on the Elections Office website.

Voting has never been easier!

The university elections will be held from June 16 until June 23, 2026 as an online election. Votes are cast via the FAU election portal after registering with your FAU IdM login. You can access your polling card via the election portal from the beginning of May.
