FAU receives 18.2 million euros for urgently needed renovations

Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) to benefit from the Free State of Bavaria’s large-scale renovation campaign: A total of 18.2 million euros for infrastructure development will flow to FAU by 2030. The funding comes from the federal special-purpose funds and is earmarked for the University to use for its prioritized construction and renovation measures.

With these additional funds, important measures can be carried out in the coming years – measures that previously had no funding prospects and could not have been implemented through the regular maintenance budget for the foreseeable future.

The approved measures include:

  • Findelgasse building: Various renovation measures, including roof and fire protection (3.7 million euros)
  • Materials Science building on Martensstraße: Fire protection measures (2.9 million euros)
  • Biologikum and Physikum: Various renovation measures, including roof and fire protection (5.2 million euros)
  • University Library: Fire protection measures (3.2 million euros)
  • Forensic Medicine: Fire protection measures (2.3 million euros)
  • Mensa Insel Schütt: Renewal of the dishwashing system (900,000 euros)
