In the top 100 in the world for patents and third-party funding
In the recently published international THE World University Ranking 2027, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has improved its position: After being ranked 206th the year before, it has now moved into the 201st position this year. On the international level, FAU is once again ranked among the top 10 percent of participating universities. Particularly successful: In the core area of industry, which considers patents and third-party funding from industry, FAU was one of the top 100 universities in the world, ranked at place 61.
At a national level, FAU remains in the top 20 in the overall evaluation. In the category of international outlook, it jumped eleven places to come in at rank 21, and in the area of industry it gained 10th place.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings have been published annually since 2004. Compiled in collaboration with the service provider Elsevier, it is considered one of the most influential university rankings alongside the QS World University Ranking and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). 2,297 top universities from 118 countries were evaluated based on 17 indicators in the core areas of teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income.
